Nick Merchant

Nick joined United Group Services in 2025 as Vice President of Safety. He brings with him a diverse background in safety leadership, risk consulting, and education. Prior to UGS, Nick worked as a Risk Consultant for CNA Insurance, where United was one of his clients. Earlier in his career, he held safety leadership roles with large national and international construction companies, primarily in heavy commercial and industrial construction. Nick has also served as a college and university educator, consultant, owner’s representative, and superintendent, giving him a well-rounded perspective on safety across the industry.

Nick is excited to be part of a company that places such strong emphasis on people, community, and continuous improvement. He looks forward to helping UGS raise the bar for safety excellence across all areas of the business.

Outside of work, Nick lives in the Indianapolis, IN area with his wife, Julia, and their young daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors, especially snowboarding, scuba diving, and exploring the wilderness. Nick and his family also spend time at a cabin he built in Nashville, IN, which has become a favorite spot for making memories together.
