John Morris
Executive Director, Organizational Development
John Morris has joined United Group Services as Executive Director, Organizational Development. John comes to us after serving 14 years with Associated Builders and Contractors and as an Ohio elected official. At ABC, he supported growth of the construction industry through advocating for free market principles, outstanding training, and a commitment to safety for all workers. As an elected official, he has been influential in regional development deals, serving on Regional Planning Commissions and as President of a Community Improvement Corporation.
Prior to ABC, John was an Economics Professor at the University of Cincinnati where he focused on finding new methods to teach personal finance, economics and entrepreneurship in the K-12 schools. He has been recognized with the Leavey Award for National Excellence in Private Enterprise Education. He authored and successfully lobbied for legislation which now mandates that 100% of high school students in Ohio receive personal finance education as a graduation requirement. He was a high school principal in Cincinnati Public Schools and remains an advocate for education reform.
A lifetime entrepreneur, John has owned, operated and sold numerous companies. While having spent most of his professional career as an electrical contractor, he has also been a national sales manager in manufacturing, a business analyst and buyer for a large utility company, a painting contractor and has sold and installed swimming pools. He is married with three adult children.
