Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Specialist to join our team in Blytheville, Arkansas. The Safety Specialist will collaborate with site and corporate leadership to ensure a safe working environment by implementing and adhering to organizational safety protocols, educating employees on safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
(Hourly rate is dependent on background and experience. Overtime is required, including Saturdays. Daily per diem and company vehicle are provided.)
Essential Duties and Tasks:
- Monitor the worksite to identify potential hazards and ensure all employees are maintaining safe work practices. Partner with site leadership to immediately address and correct deficiencies.
- Conduct job site Safety Audits, reporting and presenting findings to site and corporate leadership.
- Advise and coach foreman and site leadership in matters pertaining to safety, employee health, and VPP.
- Assist with onboarding new employees to ensure compliance with safety training and certification.
- Lead daily safety meetings and Toolbox Talks.
- Ensure adherence to client and site-specific safety expectations.
- Perform accident and incident investigation and provide insight for root cause analysis, corrective actions, and measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Monitor employee care and treatment plans post-injury, communicating necessary information with corporate leadership.
- Inspect and manage tools, equipment, and PPE used at the site to ensure safety compliance.
- Review job site safety inspection (JSSI) reports, ensuring high-risk areas are addressed immediately.
- Assist in the review and planning of Safe Task Assessments (STA’s) prior to conducting work.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in an Industrial Construction environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and regulations related to workplace safety.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis for accidents and near misses.
- OSHA 500 certification required; certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; additional occupational health certifications are a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for identifying potential hazards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Desire and ability to travel and work at additional job sites in various geographical areas is required; company truck and per diem is provided.
- Must have an acceptable driving record (MVR) to operate a company vehicle.
