United Group Services

SugarCreek – Armor-Inox Sous Vide Expansion Project

Project Overview

United Group Services, Inc. was a key partner in Danis Building Construction Company’s Armor-Inox Sous Vide Expansion Project at the Sugarcreek Plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. As the mechanical subcontractor, we provided a comprehensive solution for the 5,000 sq. ft. building addition. Our scope included installing Very Cold, Cold, Hot, and Very Hot water systems; eight 30,000-gallon holding tanks; eighteen pumps; a plate and frame ammonia heat exchanger; falling film ammonia chillers; two water softeners; one ozone skid; and numerous filters. We also installed over 4,000 linear feet of stainless steel and sanitary piping, along with custom stainless steel bent tubing totaling over 1,000 linear feet.

Our sister company, Innovative Mechanical Systems, completed the HVAC scope of the project. Their work included the fabrication and installation of ductwork, installation of a plume fan exhaust system, ventilation louvers, a unit heater, and a ductless mini-split system.

Lastly, UGS also handled the insulation of equipment, pipes, and ductwork.

Challenges

The project presented significant challenges due to supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and unexpected personnel shortages. Tight deadlines and a confined workspace further amplified the project’s complexity.

We optimized our supply chain management, adjusted our workforce structure, and prioritized quality control to ensure project success. By leveraging our strong relationships with clients, partners, and vendors, we were able to navigate these obstacles effectively.
